ColorSlurp 4.0.1 for Mac: A Quick Look

ColorSlurp has long been a favorite among Mac designers and developers who need a fast, reliable way to grab colors from anywhere on screen. With version 4.0.1, the app builds on last release’s major redesign with a round of practical refinements.

What ColorSlurp Does

At its core, ColorSlurp is a screen color picker: open its magnifier, move it with the cursor or arrow keys, and copy the color under your pointer in whatever format your workflow needs hex, RGB, HSL, and newer spaces like OKLCH, LAB, and Display P3. A precision mode slows the magnifier down for pixel-perfect selection, which is especially useful on Retina and wide-gamut displays.

The ColorSlurp 4 Redesign

Version 4 reorganized the app around Projects, letting users group palettes by client, brand, or theme instead of dumping everything into one long list. It also introduced a dedicated Tools tab with a contrast checker (supporting both WCAG and APCA methods), a color wheel, and a random color generator. Dragging any color to the bottom of the window instantly spins up a new palette, and a palette browser lets users explore curated presets. iCloud sync keeps everything aligned across Mac and iOS, where the app also supports camera-based color picking.

What’s New in 4.0.1

Building on that redesign, version 4.0.1 adds automatic palette backups, expanded localization, and reliability fixes. In practice, this means less risk of losing carefully built palettes, better support for non-English users, and a more stable experience overall the kind of polish that typically follows a big structural update like ColorSlurp 4.
