Logic Pro 12.2 Mac

Logic Pro 12.2, released on April 9, 2026, is the latest update to Apple’s professional DAW arriving just a few months after the landmark Logic Pro 12 launch in January 2026 that brought some of the most significant changes to the app in years. Version 12.2 is a stability and polish release that also adds a new Step Reflex sound pack to the library.

What Logic Pro 12 Introduced

Logic Pro 12 launched on January 28, 2026, alongside Apple’s new Creator Studio subscription bundle. The headline addition was Synth Player, a new AI Session Player built for electronic music. Like Drummer and Bass Player before it, Synth Player generates performances that follow your project’s chord structure automatically covering Simple Pad for harmonic layers, Modulated Pad, Rhythmic Chords, and popular synth bass styles including 808 Bass, Pump Bass, and Sequenced Bass. Users can adjust complexity and intensity to shape the feel.

Chord ID was another standout feature it identifies chords from any part of your project and all Session Players follow along automatically, making it far easier to build arrangements around existing recordings or loops. The Sound Library was also overhauled, adding audio previews for sound packs, the ability to mark favorites, and a new option to delete packs you no longer need to free up storage.

Logic Pro 12 also dropped Intel Mac support entirely, making it the first version to require Apple Silicon a clear signal that Apple has fully committed to its own chips for professional creative tools. It requires macOS Sequoia 15.6 or later.

What’s New in 12.2

Version 12.2 brings stability improvements and bug fixes alongside the new Step Reflex sound pack added to the library. A notable fix resolves an issue where Logic could quit unexpectedly when zooming in on Intel systems or machines running under Rosetta mode a practical fix for any users still in transition. Some users had also reported that certain Orchestra and Legacy sounds appeared missing after an earlier update, and 12.2 addresses library consistency issues of this kind.

Pricing

Logic Pro remains a one-time purchase at $199.99 on the Mac App Store, with all updates free for existing owners. It is also included in Apple Creator Studio at $12.99 per month or $129 per year alongside Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, Pixelmator Pro, and premium versions of Apple’s productivity apps.
